Right ventricular aneurysm in a double-chambered right ventricle presenting with endocarditis

Abstract

Right ventricular aneurysms are rare with few reported cases in literature, the etiology mainly being post surgical, traumatic, congenital, and infective. A 13-year-old female presented with fever. She had vegetations over the tricuspid valve on echocardiogram with an incidental finding of double chambered right ventricle (DCRV). After complete treatment of endocarditis, she underwent DCRV correction. During operation, an aneurysm was noticed over the right ventricle. This aneurysm was about 1 cm in diameter at right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) and 1.5 cm proximal to the pulmonary valve. Surgical correction of DCRV with plication of the aneurysm was done successfully.
