Fighting Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The poor outcome is due to the lack of early diagnosis and effective therapies once metastasis has occurred. Surgical resection is the only chance for cure, however, only a small number of patients are eligible for the procedure, due to disease progression. Chemotherapy, mostly gemcitabine and gemcitabine-based combinations, have not offered much survival benefit for patients with pancreatic cancer in the last few decades.
