Congenital hypothyroidism is the most common endocrinologic disorder in neonatal period. Also the most common cause of preventable mental retardation. Strict follow-up is as important as diagnosis with screening test. There are still patients incompatible with therapy with various reasons. That incompliance results with irreversibl brain damage and increases the expenses. Following the congenital hypothyroidism that one of the most important cause of preventable mental retardation is very important, it should be controlled by the government instead of family.
