Fungal granulomatous disease of the nasal cavity: A case report of a rare entity

Fungal species are ubiquitous and frequently colonize the human upper respiratory and sinonasal tracts. Fungal rhinosinusitis comprises a broad disease spectrum ranging from mild colonization to severe acute invasion. Chronic granulomatous invasive fungal sinusitis (CGIFS) is a relatively rare entity with invasive features that can mimic malignant entities, with presenting symptoms including headache, sinus pain and pressure, facial paresthesias, neurologic changes as a result of bony invasion leading to intracranial extension with mass effect on brain parenchyma and proptosis as a result of orbital invasion with displacement of orbital contents [1,2].
