Effect of computer games and musical instruments on microsurgery

Manual dexterity is one of the key skills required to be a competent microsurgeon. The increased number of applications of microsurgery has led to a growing need to refine the microsurgery skill training. Virtual reality simulators and box trainers assessing manual dexterity have been introduced as educational and assessment tools. The use of such tools have also been implicated in pre-selecting surgical trainees1. Up to date, these tools have been surgical simulating tasks such as Webcam-based laparoscopic box trainer tasks2 and there is a growing interest in investigating the influence of non-surgical skills e.g.
